We are happy to produce here two reports sont in by Young Socialists for inclusion in the Bullotin. We will be even happier to receive from other ares such reports as well, West London Fodoration moeting
As in the Regional conference, prior organisation by the 'Young Guard! supporters paid off. Tho now committee contains 8 'Young Guard! and 2 'Koep Left! supporters together with a 'Y.G.' regional representative. This compares very favourably with last yoar whore thore wore 4 right wingers, 4 'Koep Left? and 2 'Y.G.' with a right wing regional representative.
A resolution from South Paddington to affiliate to I'.C.F. was passed with only a few right wingers opposing. London and lliddlesex Regional Young Socialist Conference
The new Regional Committee olocted at the recent conferonee is mado up of three right wingers and four left wingers and includes a lading 'Y.G.! supporter who will thus be able to get round the branches, All tho standing orders committee for next year are 'Y.G.' supporters.
Among the more importantof the resolutions passed wore:
(1) The South Paddington resolution demanding full rights of political discussion at federation and rogional level.
(2) A resolution condeming racialism and blaming the housing shortage on tory policy and not con immigrants.
(3) A resolution demanding that immediate action bo taken against those C.L.P.s who continually hinder the Young Socialists from building strong and offective branches,
(4) A resolution opposing expulsion of Young Socialists by tho adult Party.
(5) A resolution condomming Civil Dofence. Comment (by roporter)
Both the regional conference and the fedoration A.G.M. have indicated the activo role that Y.G, organisation can play in Young Socialist affairs. Howevor we must now ensure that wor these fodoration positions, 'Y.G.! supportors will make use of them, especinlly as their unique position in having no parallel organisation in tho adult party, gives them a fairly freo hand in the movement. They must look outwards, get out on the streets campaigning -igainst the bomb, the Tory Immigration Bill, the Rent Act, evictions and chronic housing conditions and the Pay Pause. Thoy mst organise day schocls and social activities, open air mectings, marchs and leaflot distribution in an attompt to draw in new mombors and build strong Yourg Socialist branches, THE ST. STIPHANS TENANTS! ASSOCIATION
This report was sent in by a momber of the above organisation, Uditor.
This organisation, which has a long record of militant action on behalf of tenants, was formed in one of the worst slum streets in Paddington, Tho strest is also the centre of one of Paddington's key wards.
Two examples of land-lordism at its worst which occured last wosk will illustrate the work and problems of the association. the first case was of a West Indian woman who arrived home from work to find that the landlord had romoved the bed from the furnished room she rented. An appeal to the association brought a a party of members on to the scene and after a short argument the landlord was persuaded to refurnish the room,
The ssccndease concerned two members of tho association and Labour Party. On returning home on Saturday afternoon these membors found that the landlord hed removed their property from the furnished room and let it to anothor tonant. Thoy, as logal tonants, appsaled to tho policeto help them: to vbe roinst— ated but the police refusod to help them and in fact prevented a group of association members from doing the job thonselves,

This episode shows how, in defence of private prop rty all laws are forgotten or ignored.
The St. Stephens Tonants! Association by raising the lovel of consciousness of the working’ class in this aroa, has done much to holp Labour to win a majority in the coming borough council elections in May.
