In an article in tho latest issue of "Problems of Commnism" Jane Degras draws attention to tho way several Old Bolsheviks have recently bcoen 'rohabilitated' in a very round-about way. ‘She writess

"Surreptitiously and obliquely, the process of rohabilitating Stalin's victims continuos, if rehabilitation is the right word to apply to the rather clomentary act of publishing for the first time the dates of thoir doaths. Karl Radek was one of tho leaders of the Communist Intornational in Lenin's day. In 1910 Radck bezan active work in the ranks cf the German revolutionary opposition. In the years of tho First World War Radck joined the Zirmerwald Left from the outset. After the death of Luxemburg and Licknech Radek became the leading politician of the German Communist Party. In the twenties Radek worked in the Communist Internationel as a membor of the presidium of the u.C.C.l. After Lenin's death Radek belonged for a number of years to the Left Opposition. But in 1929 he capitulated to Stalin, serving the lattor zealously until January 1937 when he was framed up in the Seccnd lloscow Trial.

Rakovsky was a long time rovolutionary, he participated in the Labour movement in a number of countries and was especially active in the Balkans prior to the first world war. He was a member of the bourgeoisic who broke with his class, sacrificed his fortune and devoted his ontire life to the workers movement, After the October Revolution, Rakovsky was chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of tho Ukraine and performed there great and important work in consolidating the Soviet power. Rakovsky later sorved the Soviet Republic as ambassador. Onc of the leaders of the Left Opposition who was finally broken after years of exile, he capitulated to Stalin only to be framed up like so many of Lenin's closest co-workers during the infamous lioscow Trials.

Sokolnikov was an old bolshevik who in the twenties served as People's Commissar of Finance. Although never a member of the Left Opposition he was framed up with tho others in the second iioscow trial (January 1937).
