Bob Willis holds out "very little prospect" for a continuance of the Daily Herald, in the November issue of the London Typographical Journal, his union's paper. If saturntion point had been reached in newspaper reader= ship it was obvious, he says, that any newspaper increasing its circulation could do so only at the oxponse of its rivals. Therefore, he adds, “It is obvious that for the Daily Herald to increase its circulation it would inevitably take readers from the Daily Mirror and when it is realised that both papers are printed by the Mirror Group it may explain the lack of success in the Daily Herald and tho startling success of the Daily Mirror as far as circulation is concerned. ae
Mr, Willis adds that "Everything that can be done is being done either to preserve the Daily Herald as we know it, or to ensure that whatever publication takes its place the employment of our members will not be placed in joopardy."
