from a Paris correspondent

Mohamed Doudiaf, who was arrosted on June 2lst on a chargo of plotting against the Algerian Government, was roeloased on November 16th, having beon in. prison without trial during these 5 months. At a press conference after his roleasc, Doudiaf plodged continued opposition to the Ben Bella reg ime, with similar criticiams to those of Ait Ahmed's "Front of Socialist Forcos" right wing opposition, which roecontly sought to mount an armed robellion based in the Kabylic region, He considarad that Bon Bella has attemptad to taild "a hasty and precipitate socialism", thus ochoing Ait jhmed's denun— ciation of Ben Della"s "hasty and exaggorated nationalisation",

Considerable speculation has been aroused by Boudiaf's release and tho negotiations between Ben Tella and opposition leaders such as Ait Ahmed, Belkacom Krim, Ferhat Abbas and Mohamed Khider, the former general socretary of tha F.L.N., as these actions could signify an agrooment between Ben Tella and the 'Kabylie Opposition" to free political prisoners and to creato a commission to prepare for the coming F,L.N. congross in which all tendencios would be reprosentod, This would appear to be a shift to tho right. Such speculations were cut short, however, when Ben Della, speaking in the Algerian National Assembly, stressed that Algeria was not going to give up its socialist option. He said of the recent conferences and discussions that he stood for free and clear expression of all socinlist ideas at the coming F.L.N. congress, but that non-socialist opinions would not be tolorated at the congrets, According to an article published in Rovolution ifricaine, threo tendencies can bo distinguishod among the File, activists: one favouring state capitalism, another standing for o socialism that is vague and ill-dofined, and a third that is militantly Marxist,
