Clashes betweon trade union officials and workers occurred on 10th March in Madrid when some 600 workers demonstrated in front cf the headquarters of the Spanish national trade union contre. This was just before the conclusion of the second day's proceedings of the congress of the state-run Spanish trado unions, tho so-called “sindicatos verticales", grouping togother workers, employors and technicians. Shouting twe want trade union freedomt, the workers tried to enter the congress hall, but access was blocked by congress officials and the police. The police brutally attacked the demonstrators and some of them were injured. A numbor wore also arrostod.
