published 1n NATRORT, recently carried a report of a visit to a base of the Angolan National Tiberation Army which heroically continues its strucgle against Salazar's policy of extermination, At a rebel base in the Serr de Canda in Northern Angola the scene was described: - "Experienced soldiers and trainees ranging in age from 14 to 40 hoist the yellow, white and red flag of the Liberation Army every morning, undergo guard duties and go out on patrol. Five sections are established, each under its own commander and two more are soon to start, The regional H.Q. is in the jungle under the trees two hundred feet high and consists of 20 or so bamboo huts", ° The freedom fichters use surprise tactics, inflicting damage, but conserving their forces by retreating. Recently 18 trucks and two jeeps in a Portuguese patrol were sighted between Bembe and Demba by a unit of 22 men of the Angolan army who let the trucks pasg and then attacked the jeeps, retreating into the hills before the Portuguese were able to commence mortar fire.
