At the “May meeting the Reading University Students Union pasped the following resolution:

"This Union deplores the present police state system existing in South /frica, as particularly exemplified by the present Rivonia political trials, This Union undertakes to proceed with the following action-

a) to lobby local M.P.s with a view to pressing further action from Gt. Britain to implement the recent U.N. decision on South Africa;

b) to approach the Mayor and Council with a view to the establishment of a trade boycott with South Africa;

c) to contribute to such demonstrations as shall be organised by NUS and/or the Anti-Apartheid Movement.

These steps were strongly attacked by the local press, but the Students! Union backed up their stand by issuing e full list of South African brands. (Ed. Notes see Weck No. 23, the list is based upon one put out by the Anti-Apartheid Movement and can be obtained from thems 15, Endsleigh St,WCl.
