R. R. B. SEABROOK, of Norwich, has been elected president of the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers, in succession to Mr. Walter Padley, M.P. Mr. Seabrook has been a consistent advocate for Left-wing and militant policies within USDAW. He is &

an active Labour Party member and

a sponsor of Voice of the Unions.

In the yoting Mr. Seabrook re-

ceived 103,$43 votes; second was Mr.

R. Hanes with 97,825 votes, and third

Mr. 8. R. Watts with 39,438. Mr.

Padley resigned the presidency on his

appointment as a Minister of State at

the Foreign Office.
