Sasi wee hr, Gerry Fitt, the Republican Labour h.P. from Northern Ireland, in his maiden speech called for an attack on religious discrim:nation in his home country. ie said that , to perpetuate their authority, the Ulster Unionists had an electoral system which could give six votes to one person and deny even a single vote to another. Those who had no home had no local governnent votes and Unionist supporters were given homes before their opponents. Mr. Hitt declared tiiat the likelihood was that in the coriin, few years council estates would be built n his constituency and stocked with Unionist supporters to oust him at the next election. lire Fitt appealed to memvers to support an encuiry into the Government of Ireland act.
