Sales of the 500 biggest U.S. companies grew 12 per cent last year and their profits by 10 percent, "Fortune" magazine reported today. The number of workers employed by the 500 grew 9 percent to total 12,307,222. Eighty companies had sales of more than $1 billion last year, as compared with 60 in 1965.
