The Government should, in theory, set an example for the application of the thesis that price rises should be avoided at all cost if Britain is to get the "benefit fram devaluation." However, when faced by increasing costs it reacts just like anyone else; it puts up prices, The latest example being that the weekly Board of Trade Journal is to raise its price from ls 6d to 2s. fram January 1 “because of higher production costs." A Board of Trade spokesman said that there was no need to refer the 33 1/3 per cent increase to the Prices and Incamws Board because the “early warning" system applied only to national Sunday and daily newspaperzs, Apparently the Government considers that only workers should not put up prices (i.e. wages) when faced with rising costs, This small but indicative action is the latest example of the double morality operated by Mr. Wilson and his colleagues,
