Two groupinga, each of them representing small minorities, ateod in opposition and came to consider thelr differences tr be ap great as to transcend their duty to adhere ta the principles of democratic centraliam- ne cf these engaged in a split (Fosadas cf the Latin-American Bureau) and the other rejected partioipation in the reunification of the world Tretakyist movement (Healy cf the Socialist Labour League).

Posadasy, an energetic crganiger, had been developing rather eccentric positions of his ow insidethe movement, and cn eplitting he cast aside sli restraint. He advanced the idea that nuclear war and revolution are aynotcmous; 1.a.,8 nuclear war will finish sapitalism but not socisliam; it ie therefore to be welcomed, and in fact ought to be initiated in « preemptive strike by the Soriet Union. «Among the varicus tendencies cf the world Communist movement, Posadas expresses affinity with Mac's thought, which, as he indicates with astisfaction from time to time, often corresponds with his own "brilliant" analyses- Apparently he 1s convinced that Mac reads hia speeches and reporta The Posadas group could be diamissed aa a rather bizarre cult, wera it not fer the fect that it has o few followers in Cuba, hea contacts with the Guatetalan guerrilla moyenent, claima to be the Fourth Intermaticnal, and thus serres Jlsas iota as a cemyenient olub with which to beat the "sorpae" of Tretskyian.

The Healy ercup, reflecting British inaularity, tock the pesiticn that thea Guban Reyolution has not reached the phase of a workers atate, that Guba remeine capitalist, and thet Castro ia just a demagcgue, if not worse. *

"theoreticians of the Socialist Labour League sonsider that their abysmal ignorance of Latin-American politica endews them with the special right to pontificate cn the Cuban Zevnlution- Naturally this offera sport to Blas Rees, whe chortles over auch boners 28 their infcrming the Pritiah

In this respect, the quotations selected by Bles Boca were accurate enough reflacticns of Healyite views- It happens, however, thet Healy's position, clearly a prime example cf ultraleft sectarian thinking, waa thoroughly debated by the world Iretakyite movement and overwhelmingly rejected sa not in coneonance with the reality.

In prasenting Healy's nonsense about Cuba as the positicn of the Fourth International or The Militent, Hles Hoos ida deliberately dishonest. I say this not aa an epithet, but as an easily proved statement of fact. The very article in the February 5 Newsletter from which Blas Reoa quoted ends up with an attack on the Socialist Workers Party fer its nosition in relation tc the Cubsn Revolution and Fidel Castro.

Blas Rosa could have brought in the oonflioting positien cf still ancther group which claims to represent the Fourth Internation.l: a recent minor split-off headed by Michel Raptia (Fablo). Apparently this did net fit in with the immediate job in hand- Up tc now this group has net developed views -n Cuba differing distinetly from these of the Fourth International. Ita differancas ara in other areas- It considers thé de-ftelinisaticn procese te be irreversible an@d eynon¥mous with democratization. In the Sins-Soriet eonflict it favours Moscow over Peking and leans most strongly in the direction of Titeiams The sharpest differences with thie group accurred crear partybuilding methods, particularly the chaservance cf demcersatic oantrelism.
