from Sylvia Riley

On March 19th a Paris socialist documentary service “Analyses et Documents", declared that the photo .of Lee Oswald brandishing a rifle, a pistol and a newspaper was a fake. They say that this photo was amongst the proofs promised by the Dallas police after the arrest of Oswald, but was not produce! until three months afterwards, when photos app-ared in “Life" and "The Detroit Free Press", The photo which appeared in "Life" was bought for 5,000 dollars from the FBI agent charged with guarding Oswald's wife, and shows the rifle, with a short stock, equipped with a telescopic sight; the other photo, bought by G. Roberts of: "The Detroit Free Press", shows the rifle, with a long stock, and no telescopic sight. Moreover, according to the police, the photograph was taken in the spring of 1963, while the sight was fitted, according to the same police, on November 6th, 1963.

"Le Monde" has corroborated this evidence, and the Paris weekly, "L'Express" (which has recently featured a series of articles on this by Thomas Buchanan) asked the “Life” office in Paris which was the true phototraph. "No Comment" was the official reply.
