It would be interesting to know just how the rumour started that those behind the Emergency Resolution on Immigation were thinking of accepting Remission to the N.E.C. if called for, A get ~--together of most of those delegates whose Parties had sent in Emergencies on the subject made it clear that not one of then were willing to make any concession.

The fecling wes that this wes one issuc om which a clear cut decision has to be reabhed by Conference: The Press, the public and the Labour movement as a whole must know just where the Party stands on this real issue of principle.

Whether. the British Lebour mnovenent can face the rest of the world - and particularly the newly emergent countries - will depend on the trade union delegates, certainly if they can agree with the bulk of Constituency Parties the movement will have salvaged some of its idcalism.
